Mark C. Gridley, Ph.D., is a professional jazz musician, and the author of America's most widely used introduction to jazz: Jazz Styles. His research about perception, taste, and creativity in music and art appears in numerous scientific journals. He received the Distinguished Achievement Award from the Educational Press Association of America and is listed in Marquis Who's Who in America.
