Rob Foster

Dr. Robert Foster is a Professor of Music at Georgia Regents University, where he directs the jazz ensembles and teaches applied woodwinds, improvisation, theory, jazz history, and world humanities. As a saxophonist and flutist, he has performed with jazz artists such as Ravi Coltrane, Wycliffe Gordon, Art Lande, and James Newton, and has appeared as featured saxophone soloist with the Symphony Orchestra Augusta. Dr. Foster is distinguished for his studies of the shakuhachi (Japanese bamboo flute), on which he performed at the World Shakuhachi Festival in Sydney, Australia. His compositions and improvisations can be heard on his CDs Rob Foster: How’s That and Utake: The Name of the Wind.
