Lucy Mauro is an Associate Professor at West Virginia University. Her recent recordings with tenor Donald George on the Delos label have been hailed in Gramophone, awarded a Recording of the Year 2011 by MusicWeb International, calling it “the revelation of the year”, and featured on iTunes in their New and Noteworthy among other recognitions. The Journal of Singing calls Ms. Mauro “a perfect partner, whether called upon for thundering power or the tenderest whisper” and MusicWeb International said her “delicate touch and flawless technique give us a luminous sound of great beauty”. Upcoming releases include From the Unforgetting Skies: The Solo Piano Music of Margaret Ruthven Lang (Delos, June 2013) and works of Irish composer Mary McAuliffe who has composed two song cycles for her and George.

With a recent residency at Shenyang Conservatory in China, Ms. Mauro has also performed and taught for festivals in Germany, Austria and Italy. She frequently perform for colleges and recital series throughout the US and abroad and has been featured this year on Thomas Hampson’s national radio program Song of America with Donald George. Upcoming performances and projects include a concert for the 2013 Esterházy Festival in Austria and a recording of the songs of Joseph Weigl. Their website is www.duodrama.net.

Her publications include articles for American Music Teacher, Die Tonkunst, and Society of American Music Bulletin, among others, and she has an upcoming book with George for Oxford University Press, Master Singers: Advice from the Stage. Dr. Mauro is also a co-editor with her colleague Dr. Scott Beard of several highly regarded piano ensemble book including Essential Two-Piano Repertoire, Essential Keyboard Trios and Essential Piano Duets from Alfred Publishing.

A frequent presenter for several national and regional music organizations, she is also a member of The Recording Academy as a voting member for the Grammys.

She is a graduate of the Peabody Conservatory of the Johns Hopkins University from which she received Bachelor’s, Master’s and Doctorate degrees and where she studied with Ann Schein and Julio Esteban.
