Jeremy Beck

Composer Jeremy Beck is “an original voice celebrating music. Without self-consciousness, without paralyzing abstraction, Beck reminds us that music is movement, physically and emotionally.”  (MusicWeb International). A finalist in the Utah Arts Festival competition for the 2013 Chamber Music Commission and awarded Second Prize in the Boston Chamber Orchestra’s 2011-2012 Commission Competition, Beck’s Review was one of three finalists in the 2010 National Opera Association’s Chamber Opera Competition. Beck’s 2011 CD, IonSound Project (innova 797), distributed by Naxos, features the ensemble-in-residence at the University of Pittsburgh. Critics have called it “a thoroughly engaging CD from top to bottom” (NewMusicBox) and described Beck’s music as “uplifting, buoyant … beautiful and a complete pleasure to listen to[.] ” (Audiophile Audition). His music has earned awards, grants and honors from American Composers Orchestra, Wellesley Composers Conference, Millay Colony for the Arts, and the arts councils of Iowa, California and Kentucky. www.BeckMusic.org
