Catherine Jarjisian

Recently retired as professor and former head of the Department of Music at the University of Connecticut, Catherine Jarjisian is a designated Fulbright Specialist and consultant, working most recently in Cairo, Egypt. She served for three years as interim dean of the Conservatory at the Cleveland Institute of Music and held prior positions as director of the Conservatory of Music at Baldwin-Wallace College and director of the Music Education Division at Oberlin Conservatory, as well as in faculty positions at Oberlin, Iowa State University, and the University of Wisconsin-Whitewater. She performed professionally with the Robert Page Cleveland Singers, completed two terms on the NASM Commission on Accreditation, served as co-trainer of NASM new evaluators, and was president of the Ohio Association of Schools of Music. Currently, she is NASM’s secretary and a member and chair of NASM and ACCPAS accrediting teams. Her undergraduate degree is from Susquehanna University; graduate degrees are from Temple University.
