Elliott Antokoletz

Elliott Antokoletz, Professor of Musicology at the University of Texas at Austin, has held two Endowed Professorships. His theoretical contributions earned him the Béla Bartók Memorial Plaque and Diploma from the Hungarian Government in 1981. He received the Ph.D. Alumni Award from the Graduate Center of the City University of New York in 1987. He has lectured throughout Europe and the United States, and has given lectures in Australia and Latin America. He is the author of eight books and contributing editor of several others as well as the International Journal of Musicology. Antokoletz majored in violin at the Juilliard School of Music (BS 1964) and Musicology at the City University of New York, where he received his Ph.D. in 1975. He taught theory at Queens College, where he was a member of the Faculty String Quartet and was also concertmaster of the New Repertory Ensemble of New York.
