Manny Brand has recently been appointed the Director of the School of Music, Stephen F. Austin State University. Previously, he has held leadership and professorial positions at Hong Kong Baptist University, Texas State University, and the University of Houston.

An active researcher in music education, Professor Brand has published over 100 articles and papers, and much of his work has focused on the professional preparation of music teachers. He has served on the editorial boards of all the major journals in music education, including, among others, the Journal of Research in Music Education, Bulletin of the Council for Research in Music Education, and Music Educators Journal. He has served as the Editor for the Quarterly Journal for Music Teaching and Learning. Dr. Brand’s most recent book is “The Teaching of Music in Nine Asian Nations” published by Edwin Mellen Press.
