Nancy Ypma

Nancy S. Ypma, D.Mus., is professor of music and Chair of the Division of Visual and Performing Arts at McKendree University. Dr. Ypma received her Bachelor of Arts in Music from UCLA and her Master of Music and Doctorate of Music degrees from Northwestern University, Evanston, IL.     Dr. Ypma has also studied at the Royal School of Church Music in England, Cambridge University, at the American Church in Paris and was part of a faculty exchange in 1999 which gave her the opportunity to study and perform in The Netherlands. As professor of music, she directs the Concert and Chamber Choirs, teaches organ and harpsichord,  and courses in music history, church music and conducting. Dr. Ypma is also organist and music director at St. George’s Episcopal Church in Belleville where she directs both the Choristers and the Adult Choir.  In 2005, St. George’s Adult Choir was chosen to perform at the National Cathedral in Washington, D.C. for Illinois State Day.
