Mary Anne Rees

Mary Anne Rees is the Executive Director of The CMS Fund. She is also a fund-raising consultant for the Non-Profit Associations of Oregon. Dr. Rees has been in the development field for over sixteen years serving a major gifts and planned giving officer.
Prior to her development career, Rees served as Dean of the School of Music at West Chester University (of Pennsylvania). She also served as Assistant Dean of the Northwestern University School of Music and of the Ithaca College School of Music.

She began her career as an Assistant Professor at Willamette University. In addition to teaching, she had responsibilities in the campus Office of Admissions as she assisted in the recruitment of students for the Department of Music.

Mary Anne Rees holds two music degrees from Indiana University. Her Ph.D. from the University of Oregon was an interdisciplinary program on the administration of schools of music in higher education. Rees has given numerous papers on music administration at national meetings of both CMS and NASM and has recently published an historical monograph entitled CMS: The First Fifty Years.

As a pianist, Mary Anne Rees continues to perform and teach. For twelve years, she gave an annual series of recitals aboard the Queen Elizabeth 2. Other performing venues include the Weill Recital Hall at Carnegie Hall and Taliesin West in Scottsdale, Arizona.

As a CMS life member, she has served as national Treasurer and has served on the CMS Campaign Committee as well as the CMS Publications Committee.
