Michelle Kiec

Michelle Kiec enjoys an active career as a musician, educator, and administrator. In addition to orchestral and chamber music performances across the country, Dr. Kiec has performed as a soloist for the International Clarinet Association, Montana-Idaho Clarinet Festival, University of Oklahoma Clarinet Symposium, and Midwest ClariFest. She has adjudicated solo and ensemble music contests in the US and Canada, and her interest in body mechanics sparked the development of yoga workshops for the collegiate musician. Her work with distance education culminated in the development of an acclaimed program for pre-collegiate musicians, taught entirely in a synchronous format at International Music Camp. Furthermore, Dr. Kiec is a frequent presenter at professional conferences, speaking about enrollment strategies, curriculum design, distance education, assessment, entrepreneurship, professional development, and pedagogy.

Dr. Kiec is currently the Associate Dean in the College of Visual and Performing Arts at Kutztown University. Previously, she taught woodwinds and music theory at Clarion University and University of Mary, where she also served as the Coordinator of Assessment and Accreditation for the School of Arts and Sciences. Dr. Kiec holds bachelor's degrees in saxophone performance and German from the State University of New York at Buffalo. She earned master's and doctoral degrees in clarinet performance at Peabody Conservatory of Music of The Johns Hopkins University.
