Jessie Fillerup

Jessie Fillerup is Assistant Professor of Musicology at the University of Mary Washington in Fredericksburg, Virginia, where she teaches courses in music appreciation, music history, American music, and women in music. She has presented research on Ravel, music history pedagogy, and fin-de-siecle French music at national and international conferences, and her publications include articles and reviews in the College Music Symposium, Fontes Artis Musicae, the Journal of Military History, and Vitalizing Music History Teaching (edited by Jim Briscoe).

She is the recipient of an NEH "Enduring Questions" grant, which supports the development and teaching of a course exploring a pre-disciplinary foundational question in the humanities. In 2006, she co-founded the Pedagogy Study Group of the American Musicological Study (AMS) and served as chair for four years. Currently she serves as Review Editor for the Journal of Music History Pedagogy.
