Keith E. Clifton is Professor of Musicology at Central Michigan University, where he teaches all levels of music history and courses in popular music, world music, and opera history. He has published and presented extensively on his major research area of modern French music (especially Ravel and Les Six), as well as American popular music and classical song, the subject of his 2008 book Recent American Art Song: A Guide (Scarecrow Press). Other publications appear in Grove Dictionary of American Music (2nd edition), H-France, Canadian University Music Review, the Journal of Musicological Research, Fontes Artis Musicae, Notes, the Journal of Singing, and elsewhere. An active CMS member for nearly two decades, he served as 2013 national program chair and is currently President of the Great Lakes Chapter.
