Eric McKee

Eric McKee is Associate Professor of Music at Penn State University, where he teaches music theory. He received his doctorate from The University of Michigan, where he served as Editor of the music theory journal In Theory Only. McKee specializes in music of the eighteenth and nineteenth centuries. His research projects have explored Schenkerian approaches to tonal form, musical depictions of death and spirituality in the instrumental music of Beethoven, phrase rhythm in the music of Mozart, and topic theory. He was awarded a fellowship from the American Council of Learned Societies for research on the dance music of Chopin. His book Decorum of the Minuet, Delirium of the Waltz: A Study of Dance-Music Relations in 3/4 Time was published by Indiana University Press in 2012. His research has also appeared in Music Theory Spectrum, Music Analysis, In Theory Only, College Music Symposium and Theory and Practice.
