Bruce C. Kelley

Bruce Kelley, PhD, is a Professor of Music and Director of the Center for Teaching and Learning at the University of South Dakota. He received his bachelor of music degree in trombone performance from Nebraska Wesleyan University and an M.A. and Ph.D in music theory from the Ohio State University. His research is centered on pedagogy in higher education, as well as on the music of the American Civil War. He is the author of numerous articles, co-editor of Bugle Resounding: Music and Musicians of the Civil War Era (University of Missouri Press, 2004), and the lead author of Preparing Your Campus for Veterans' Success: An Integrated Approach to Facilitating the Transition and Persistence of our Military Students (Stylus, 2013). In 2010 he led a team that received a three-year, $500,000 FIPSE grant to create faculty and staff development programs that would enable the university community to better serve student veterans.
