Elizabeth S. Gould

Elizabeth Gould serves as Associate Professor at the University of Toronto Faculty of Music. Her research in gender and sexuality in the context of feminisms and queer theory has been published widely, including Women and Music: A Journal of Gender and Culture, Philosophy of Music Education Review, Educational Philosophy and Theory, Discourse: Studies in the Cultural Politics of Education, and the Brazilian journal, labrys: études féministes estudos feministas. A featured curator for Queer Americana, the theme week posted August 8-12, 2011 on in media res: a media commons project, for which she wrote on queer potentialities of Meredith Willson’s The Music Man, Gould also served as lead editor for the book, Exploring Social Justice: How Music Education Might Matter (2009), and organized the conferences, musica ficta: A Conference on Engagements and Exclusions in Music, Education, and the Arts (2008), and Feminist Theory and Music 6: Confluence and Divide (2008).
